1. Get Started with ToolJet: Choose between ToolJet Cloud (hosted solution) or self-host using Docker/Kubernetes. For self-hosting, run the Docker command: docker run --name tooljet --restart unless-stopped -p 80:80 --platform linux/amd64 -v tooljet_data:/var/lib/postgresql/13/main tooljet/try:ee-lts-latest
2. Connect Data Sources: Connect to databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB), APIs, cloud storage (S3, GCS), or SaaS tools (Stripe, Slack, Google Sheets). Use the built-in ToolJet Database (PostgreSQL) or integrate existing data sources through the platform's connectors.
3. Build User Interface: Use the visual App Builder to drag and drop pre-built components onto the canvas. Customize components through the Properties Panel on the right sidebar. Search and add widgets from the Components Library.
4. Create Queries: Build queries to fetch and update data from connected sources. Use the query builders for supported data sources or write custom JavaScript/Python queries. Transform query results using JavaScript or Python.
5. Configure Events and Actions: Set up event handlers for components (onClick, onSelect etc.). Create workflows by connecting queries to UI events. Use the debugger to catch and fix errors in queries and workflows.
6. Implement Security: Configure authentication and role-based access control (RBAC). Set up workspace-specific settings and credentials. Enable audit logs for monitoring platform activity.
7. Test and Deploy: Test all functionalities thoroughly using the debugger. Deploy the application to production. Share apps with end users through embeddable links or direct access.
8. Use AI Features (Optional): Leverage AI capabilities to generate schemas, build apps using natural language, and get AI-guided support for technical questions. Connect to LLMs like OpenAI, Claude, or Gemini for AI-powered features.
