Create an account: Sign up for a free account on eraser.io to start using the platform
Create a new file: On the dashboard, click 'Create File' (shortcut: ^N or Alt N) and give it a name like 'Technical Specs'
Choose layout: An Eraser file has 3 possible layouts - Both (Note and Canvas side-by-side), Note only, or Canvas only. Select your preferred layout
Create basic shapes: Click the ⨁ button around rectangles to create more shapes. Press tab to change between different shape types
Use diagram-as-code: For complex diagrams like sequence diagrams, use the diagram-as-code feature which allows you to create diagrams through code syntax
Add documentation: Switch to Note layout to add write-ups using standard markdown syntax. You can use the formatting bar as an alternative to markdown
