Install Foundry: Download and install Foundry VTT from the official website after purchasing a license ($50 one-time fee). For Windows users, install via the standalone application. For Mac/Linux users, extract the zip file to your preferred location.
Initial Configuration: Navigate to the Configuration tab and set an Administrator Password to secure Foundry VTT. This password is required to access the setup menu.
Install Game System: Before creating a world, install a Game System that sets the rules for your world (e.g. D&D 5E, Pathfinder, etc.) from the available options.
Create Game World: Create a new game world using your installed game system. Configure world settings and options as needed.
Install Modules: Browse and install desired modules to add functionality. Modules must be enabled within a game world to work.
Launch Game: Start up your created game world to begin setting up scenes, adding content, and inviting players.
Player Access: Share your server address with players. They can join by entering the address in their web browser, selecting their username, entering password if required, and connecting to the active session.
Configure Player Settings: Players can select their avatar, player color, and claim assigned characters through the player configuration screen when first joining.
