Install Prerequisites: Ensure your system has Docker and Docker Compose installed. Recommended minimum specs: 4GB RAM and 4 CPU cores for production environment.
Choose Deployment Option: Decide between self-hosting (Trench Open Source) or using Trench Cloud managed service. For self-hosting, follow the installation guide in docs.trench.dev
Deploy Trench Server: If self-hosting, deploy the Trench development server using Docker commands provided in the quickstart guide. The system runs on a single production-ready Docker image.
Configure Event Tracking: Set up event tracking using industry standard specifications like Track, Identify, and Group. Trench is compatible with Segment specification.
Implement Data Collection: Start collecting events through the system. Trench can handle thousands of events per second on a single node using Kafka.
Query Data: Access your collected data using either SQL queries or REST API endpoints. The system provides real-time querying capabilities through ClickHouse.
Set Up Data Export: Configure throttled webhooks to send data to other destinations if needed.
