Purchase a BookLed device: Buy a BookLed hardcover paper book with integrated electronics from the Tindie store.
Set up an OpenAI API account: Create an account and obtain API credentials from OpenAI to access their generative AI capabilities.
Download the open source code: Go to the BookLed GitHub repository and download the Python and Jupyter notebook example codes.
Connect BookLed to your computer: Use the USB port on the top of the BookLed device to connect it to your computer.
Run the Python code: Execute the downloaded Python scripts to interface the BookLed with the OpenAI API.
Open the BookLed book: Turn pages in the physical BookLed book. The page sensor will detect page turns.
Interact with AI-generated content: As you turn pages, the Python code will call the OpenAI API to generate AI storytelling content based on the current page.
Experiment with different prompts: Try modifying the Python code to generate different types of AI content, like explanations in other languages or creative retellings.
